This is a Special Appointment position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Correctional Training, provide direct supervision to the Captains and to act on behalf of the Director when unavailable. The incumbent must be familiar with all training programs and the operations of Corrections agencies and institutions.
Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination and oversight of In-service and entry-level Training for all institutions throughout the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services
- Coordination and oversight of Field Training Officer Program for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services
- Coordinates with Training Director, Regional Coordinators, and Program Managers to develop and provide training programs that address Departmental needs and maintains professional training for all Department employees. Maintains familiarity with program approval process, approves programs, and maintains and oversees adjunct instructors for In-Service and Field Training Programs
- Coordinates and assists in developing In-service training for Supervisors in the DPSCS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. One year of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures. Three years of experience in conducting, coordinating or overseeing training programs. One year of this experience must have been a corrections or law enforcement setting.
- Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

Essential Functions: Work involves ensuring the safety of visitors, judges, employees, and the general public who visit the District Court. Duties also include preparing courtrooms for sessions, maintaining order in the courtroom and operating the courthouse metal detector. As considerable public contact is involved, the employee is required to exercise the practical judgment necessary to cope with unusual situations on an emergency basis. Bailiffs are considered essential personnel and are subject to call-in during emergencies and staffing shortages. In the event that the building is closed either temporarily or for the remainder of the day, Bailiffs are required to remain at their post until relieved by proper authority.
High school diploma/GED and MUST be a graduate of a Police Training Academy.
Experience: Previous law enforcement experience.
Bailiffs must be able to successfully obtain and maintain licensing/certification in the following areas: Special Police Commission and Maryland State Handgun permit, both within 6 months of hire date; and licensing for all less lethal devices (OC spray); AED/CPR certification.
Physical Demands: Work requires frequent physical effort such as standing and walking for eight hours daily and requires the physical ability to restrain and/or detain individuals. A physical examination is required. Ability to exercise independent judgement. Ability to exercise tact under pressure or in difficult situations with the public and diffuse situations in which parties may be hostile and in conflict with each other. Ability to recognize dangerous situations. Ability to perform all the essential functions of the position.

Position: Security Officer
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that safety and security procedures are in place for the assured security of the employees, customers and Association. Incumbent will recommend, implement and monitor security procedures and operational controls for the Association; train employees on security procedures; and investigate and report internal and external fraud situations.
Creates, recommends, implements and monitors security procedures and operational controls for the Association to ensure the protection and safety of customers, employees and assets, and to reduce security risks.
Develops and conducts periodic training for employees related to security processes and procedures.
Evaluates, monitors, and coordinates testing of security systems and equipment; recommends repairs and new devices as needed, and manages contracted physical security equipment vendor.
Administers physical security controls for branch and office locations.
Conducts interviews, investigates and recommends appropriate actions for internal and external fraud complaints.
Serves as liaison with law enforcement agencies with security-related issues.
Manages the contracted security guard service program for the Association.
Addresses all security matters, as appropriate, and reports security issues to IT Manager. Assists Manager with preparation of required annual reports to the Board of Directors.
Actively participates in security information-sharing organization(s) for relevant and up-to-date security news and information that may be useful to the bank; (e.g. Maryland Association for Bank Security). Reports relevant information to Manager and communicates important information to all employees.
Performs periodic security audits for all Rosedale Federal locations. Composes formal reports of the audits and maintains the documentation. Presents reports to the IT Manager and other necessary personnel.
Provides review and consultation of security factors with new buildings or renovations.
Works collaboratively with Collections Manager, IT Manager and other necessary appropriate personnel to coordinate site visits and property inspections.

Five (5) years security-related experience with a concentration in physical security and working knowledge of investigations. Security experience in banking preferred.

I am looking for a retired person who is looking to work part-time at a private school setting in the Lutherville/Timonium area of Baltimore County.
Currently I have two people that work an average of 65 hours a week. The person I am looking to hire would fill in when one of the two people are not available to work (vacations, appointments, etc…) and also for special events where additional security is needed.
At this time, we normally have coverage when the school is open to employees and special events from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. There will be occasions when we may need to schedule security later in the evening for meetings/other events and some weekend days.
