County Executive Jim Smith — who is exiting the executive’s office after his second term — last week took part in the unveiling of a statue, “The Spirit of Renaissance,” at Olympian Park at Towson Circle. A ceremony to unveil the statue took part last Thursday, Oct. 14.

County officials said Smith and his wife, Sandy, donated the statue and dedicated to the citizens and employees of Baltimore County.

On Monday, the County Council formally, and unanimously, accepted the $5,150 gift of the bronze statute.

Smith said last week that he made the gift “to show our gratitude for such a satisfying time in our lives.”
