RECRUITMENT FOR:    AGENTII/WARRANT OFFICER (1188) CONTRACTUAL

SALARY:  $18.18 per hour

CLOSING DATE:   February 2, 2012

LOCATION:  Statewide

POSITION DUTIES:

This is a full-time, contractual position. The selected candidate will have full  police authority and will be required to serve violation of probation and parole re-take warrants, transporting violators to detention facilities.  Employees are subject to work on weekends, nights, holidays, and call out assignments.  The position requires travel to all areas of the State of Maryland.  A vehicle and all necessary equipment will be provided.   We are seeking candidates who have the ability to work as a team with an assigned partner in a designated area of the State.   Individuals with prior experience in police agencies performing warrant service activity are strongly encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education – High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Police Training Commission regulation.

Experience – Interested Candidates must have at least three years law enforcement experience as a Police Officer and have not been retired from a municipal, county or State of Maryland police agency for more than three years.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE CLASSIFICATION:

Employees in this classification will be assigned a duty which requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle. It also requires them to bear firearms and be able to demonstrate practical knowledge and proficiency in the safe use and care of firearms on a periodic basis.   Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification and will be placed on a list of eligible candidates for consideration for at least one year. The list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.   For education obtained outside the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.

EXAMINATION:

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position.   You will be required to complete a Maryland Police Training Commission’s Application for Re-Certification as a Police Officer (AFC). Applicants should report all experience and education that is related to this position.   Selected applicants will be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, psychological, substance abuse testing and polygraph examination.
