Funeral services and a procession will be held this morning honoring fallen Baltimore City police officer Thomas Portz Jr., who became the city’s first police officer to die in the line of duty since 2007 when his vehicle crashed into a fire truck Oct. 20.
The services are planned for 11 a.m. and will be held at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, at Charles Street and Upnor Road, just south of Northern Parkway. The funeral procession will then leave the church and head to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, the cemetery where Portz will be laid to rest.
Police are warning drivers to expect travel delays during the procession, which is slated to begin sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Drivers will be restricted from parking along Padonia Road, east of the cemetery entrance.
