Laurel Police Chief David Crawford will retire from the top job at Laurel’s police department effective Dec. 1, Laurel Mayor Craig Moe said in a statement released Friday.

In the statement, Moe said Crawford was retiring for personal reasons and that Crawford will be on administrative leave through November.

Moe has appointed Deputy Chief Richard McLaughlin, a 24-year veteran of the Laurel Police Department, to serve as acting chief of police until a new chief is chosen.
