One lane of the inner loop of the Beltway at Providence Road is now open to traffic.

The inner loop in that area had been closed for more than two hours today after a three vehicle crash.

Baltimore County Police say a a police officer’s cruiser was struck by a tractor trailer, forcing the car across the inner loop and into a jersey wall.

A black Jeep also was involved in the accident.

The officer was freed from his car by rescue crews and flown to Shock Trauma where he remains in stable condition.

The two women in the Jeep were taken to Sinai Hospital. Police say their injuries are non-life threatening.

The accident was reported at around noon today.

Officials are not sure when the remaining lanes of the inner loop of the Beltway will be open to traffic.
