Police Involved Crash Injures Two In Howard County

A Baltimore woman and a Howard County Police officer were taken to the hospital after a crash between a marked police vehicle and another vehicle.

Howard County Police are investigating the accident that occurred between a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria and a 2000 Honda Civic Tuesday evening around 6:00 PM on Snowden River Parkway and Rt 175.

Police say the driver of the police vehicle was southbound on Snowden River Parkway making a left turn onto eastbound Rt. 175 when it was struck in the intersection by the Honda Civic traveling northbound on Snowden River Parkway.

Both drivers were transported to the Howard County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and subsequently released.

The driver of the Police Vehicle has been identified as 22 year old Officer Laurita Cofield who has been with Howard County Police for two years.

The driver of the Honda has been identified as 62 year old Diane Louise Whitehair of the 300 block of Stafford Drive in Baltimore.

The roadway was never closed as Police were able to direct through traffic around the collision.
