Some new developments have arisen around the company that leases 15 speed cameras to Baltimore County.

A county official has confirmed that the no-bid contract with ACS State and Local Solutions is being extended for another year.

Patch.com is also reporting that a P-R firm that is under contract with the speed camera vendor has set up a website and is working to push for council support of a plan to expand the number of cameras at school zones.

KO Public Affairs is reported to be assisting a grassroots effort that began on Facebook with the name Slow Down for Baltimore County schools.

The council is to vote this week on possibly expanding the number of cameras beyond 15.

ACS makes more than 80 cents out of every dollar in fines issued.
