Officials say a convoy of nearly 2,500 motorcycles will likely cause traffic delays Friday in parts of western Maryland and northern Virginia.

The America’s 9/11 Ride is scheduled to leave Somerset, Pa., Friday morning and arrive around 8 a.m. in Cumberland.

The rest of Friday’s route takes the riders along Interstates 68 and 70 through Hagerstown to Frederick. Then it follows U.S. 15 through Leesburg, Va., ending in Arlington, Va.

Police say they expect a convoy 15 miles long. They plan to temporarily close the ramp from I-70 to U.S. 15 early Friday afternoon.

The riders will visit the Pentagon before heading north Saturday for New York.
