Lillian Parsons
Mother of Brother Jeff Parsons
Lillian S. Parsons, age 95, of Abingdon finished her journey here on this earth on June 29, 2023. Her next home is to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior forever. Lillian was born in Summit, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Sebastian and Nora (McGuire) Phillips and wife to the late John Alfred Parsons.
She came to Maryland in 1950 as a bride with John starting their life together in Abingdon for 60 years. Lillian worked for the U.S. Army on Edgewood Arsenal as a secretary for 18 years. Once she retired she began to make beautiful quilts. She was very meticulous with her hand stitching and patterns she chose. Her handmade quilts were given to her children and grandchildren out of her love for them and to have something she touched. She was a long long-time active member (56 years) of Towne Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in her faithfulness to Towne. Even in her last days at Lorien Bel Air, she would sing hymns very loud for all to hear. She was a witness for the Lord even in her last days.
Lillian is survived by her; son, Jeffery (Shellie) Parsons; daughter, Deborah (Edward) Lee; grandsons, Rev. John Wayne Lee, Jeffery S. Parsons, and David M. Parsons; granddaughters, Sarah W. Sickels, and Alexandra E. Hessler; great-granddaughters, Kalyn LaPointe, Emily G. Lee, Abigail R. Lee, and Zoe Sickels; and great-grandsons, Jeremiah W. Lee, and Isaac M. Lee.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene R. Phillips, Dual T. Phillips and Allen O. Phillips, and sister, Eva L. Dyer.
