Anne Arundel Police Looking For Violators Over Holiday Weekend

Thursday, May 26, 2011 – John Patti
Anne Arundel County Police say officers will be patrolling the county throughout the Memorial Day weekend conducting seatbelt enforcement, handicap parking enforcement and targeting areas that have been identified as showing recent trends in criminal activity.

Each district will be participating in “Operation Hide” (Handicap ID Enforcement), an initiative focused on providing enforcement and deterrence to motorists, who fraudulently use handicap placards/tags and commit handicap parking violations.

Additionally, officers will be enforcing the use of seatbelts as part of the “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Enforcement will occur during the nighttime hours in the northern and western portions of the county.

The department’s centralized P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Response Team will be patrolling throughout each district to deter and combat criminal activity in specific areas of the county.

Officers will also be enforcing the “Move Over” law by reminding and educating motorists on the importance of moving over and changing lanes, if possible, to provide a safe distance to first responders parked on area roads.
