|Jurors in central Pennsylvania have convicted a man of killing another man during a drug robbery two years ago – and also decided that he should be put to death for the crime.
The York County panel deliberated for about three hours Thursday evening and Friday morning before convicting 34-year-old Kevin Mattison of Baltimore of first-degree murder, robbery, and burglary.
They returned later in the afternoon and decided that he should be executed.
Family members cried as the sentence was imposed Friday and Mattison turned to tell them he loved them as sheriff’s deputies led him away.
Prosecutors said Mattison broke into a home in December 2008, robbed 34-year-old Christian Agosto of marijuana and then shot him in the head.
They cited his conviction in another killing and the fact that Agosto was killed during commission of another felony.
… Another one that should never have been back on the streets. …
