The Lodge recently learned of the passing of Brother Edgar Herman, 93, on June 30, 2024.

Born on November 13, 1930, in Baltimore, MD, he was a respected figure in his community and a beloved family man.

Edgar proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, an experience that deeply influenced his life and values. He continued his life of service at the Baltimore County Police Department, where he was injured in the line of duty, demonstrating his courage and commitment to public safety.

After his military career and prior to his police service, Edgar worked for the B&O Railroad, where he dedicated many years to ensuring safe and reliable transportation. His work ethic and dedication to duty were hallmarks of his career.

A man of faith and fellowship, Edgar was actively involved in leadership with Knights of Columbus for 47 years and the Korean War Veterans Association. He enjoyed watching sports, westerns and was an avid supporter of local rec sports. Above all, Edgar cherished time spent with his family.

Edgar is survived by his sons, Guy and Joseph Herman (wife Cathy); daughter, Carole Shupe (husband Clifford); grandchildren, Michael Herman (wife Larissa), George Dillon (wife Brittiany), and Sarah Robinson (husband Martin); and great-grandchildren, Angelina, Sofie, Brooks, William, and Maverick.
