The father of Brother Jacob Heins of CIB.

Gerald “Jerry” Robert Heins passed away on January 24, 2025 at the age of 68. He was born on November 2, 1956 in Youngstown, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Robert and Cathy Heins, as well as his brother Rodney and sister Cheryl.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kathleen, and their five children, Joshua (Claire), Jacob (Jennifer), Rachel (Wayne), Hannah (Joshua), and Mary.

He was immensely proud of his children and ten grandchildren, Allison, Elena, Nathan, Emma, Brynlee, Cora, Auden, Samuel, Bowen, and Leena.

He is also survived by his siblings Brian (Lisa) and Diane (David).

He held an unwavering faith in the Lord, and lived a life dedicated to serving others. After spending four years in the United States Marine Corps, he joined the Baltimore County Fire Department. He served for thirty years at Station 12 and Station 54 as a Firefighter-Paramedic. After he retired from BCoFD, he joined the Maryland Transportation Authority Police Department, becoming their oldest academy graduate at 53 years old. He was assigned to the Port Detachment before joining the SWAT Team as their medic. After eleven years with MDTA, he retired (again) to spend his time fishing, traveling, and enjoying time with his family.
