A Baltimore County Circuit Court judge on Tuesday sentenced a man to life plus 20 years in the slaying of a Milford Mill man during a botched home burglary, the county state’s attorneys office said.
Kelly Shird, 28, was convicted in October of first-degree murder and first-degree burglary, and was sentenced by Judge Michael Finifter. Shird shot and killed Craig Bouie in Bouie’s home during a struggle. Bouie confronted Shird, who had broken into the home through a rear basement window, after leaving his wife’s side as she fed their one-month-old son on the second floor.
Shird was arrested a week later in Virginia, after police found his handprint on a neighbor’s window.
Police also found a dreadlock of Shird’s hair in Bouie’s hand, which they matched to Shird through a DNA analysis, authorities said.
