A Baltimore City police officer was dragged Tuesday morning during a pursuit in west Baltimore.

Around 9 a.m. detectives from the Baltimore Police Violent Crime Impact Section were investigating narcotics activity at Monroe Street and Penrose Avenue.  During the investigation, officers approached a pickup truck to question the occupants.

As a detective approached the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed and dragged the officer into the 1800 block of West Lexington Street.

During the confrontation, the officer fired two defensive rounds.  He did not strike anyone.

The officer was taken to Shock Trauma with injuries to his arms.

Police are looking for a light brown/gold Ford pickup driven by a white male.  A white female was in the passenger seat.

No license plate information is currently available, according to police.
