County Bans Smoking In Vehicles

Thursday, October 27, 2011 – Steve Fermier and Anne Kramer
Baltimore County employees can no longer smoke in county owned vehicles.

Dr. Gregory Branch, the county health officer tells WBAL Radio that an email has now gone out to all employees telling them that effective Thursday there will no longer be any smoking in county owned vehicles.

Branch says the dangers of secondhand smoke are the reason for the ban.

Until today, the policy was that employees could smoke if two or more people were in the car.

There are about 1500 county owned vehicles in its fleet according to officials.
