SALARY: $43,725 – $56,750 (Grade 17)

NATURE OF WORK: This position is responsible for managing and administering the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Public Assistance (PA) Disaster Assistance program for the State of Maryland. The Public Assistance program is FEMA’s largest disaster recovery program.
Administration of the PA program encompasses pre-disaster preparation and post event management of disaster recovery efforts, including coordinating damage assessments, conducting State operations in the Joint Field Office (JFO), reviewing claims, processing appeals and closing out projects.
These duties are mandated by Federal Law (Robert T. Stafford Act, as amended), and involve working directly with federal, state and local officials and legislators and providing guidance and technical support for the PA program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
Notes: 1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: At least one (1) year of above experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a program, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: Experience with disaster assistance/recovery programs.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
