Former Council Candidate Facing Theft Charges

Friday, May 13, 2011 – Robert Lang
A former Baltimore County Council candidate is facing charges she stole thousands of dollars from a man who had granted her power of attorney.

Penny McCrimmon ran for county council last year in the Randallstown and Owings Mills area.

Prosecutors allege she stole $60,000 from the 60-year-old man who had granted her power of attorney because he was ill.

She faces charges of theft between $10,000 and $100,000, obtaining the property of an older adult and misappropriation of a fiduciary.

If convicted, she could face up to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors say her public defender entered a not guilty plea earlier this week.

McCrimmon ran for the council seat now held by Ken Oliver.
