LEBF and SELECT Scholarship Opportunities

Dear Law Enforcement Colleague,

I am pleased to announce two IACP Foundation scholarship opportunities that are currently available to active law enforcement officers and to the dependent family members of fallen officers or officers permanently disabled in the line of duty.

Right now, the Foundation is accepting applications for both the Survivors’ Education Law Enforcement Trust (SELECT) Scholarship and the Law Enforcement Business Fellowship (LEBF).

The SELECT Scholarship is perhaps the most fundamental and powerful initiative of the Foundation’s programs. Each year, the Foundation is proud to distribute cash awards from three endowed scholarships to the dependant family members of fallen officers or officers permanently disabled in the line of duty. Both spouses and children are eligible for this program and to date, the Foundation has helped defray almost $20,000.00 in continuing education costs for family members who have looked at life from the other side of the thin blue line.

The LEBF is a two week management and leadership training course, developed in collaboration with Target and a subcommittee of the IACP Foundation Board. The program is based on several of Target’s most effective internal training courses, but revised and geared toward law enforcement command staff. This year’s fellowship will host five candidates during the course planned for July 18 – 28, 2011, at Target’s corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. All costs associated with the course, such as compensation for instructors, travel to and from Minneapolis, lodging for two weeks, and some meals, will be covered by a grant from Target through the IACP Foundation.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit more about two of the valuable programs that the IACP Foundation is able to bring to you and your agency through the generosity of donors and through the support of dedicated corporate partners. I hope you might consider a gift to the IACP Foundation today by clicking here to make a safe, secure and much appreciated donation.
