You might call it a speed camera shell game.
Prince George’s County has authorized more than 100 mobile cameras with about 50 at school zones and the rest to move around from one location to another. That county’s school speed camera system had been put on hold by the previous county executive. But the Examiner is reporting that Rushern Baker wants them to go online. Revenue estimates are in the $7 and a half million dollar range…still…many officials insist their purpose is for safety and not dollars. State law authorizes speed cameras near schools and construction areas. |
