Report: More Officers Suspended In Corruption Case

Wednesday, March 09, 2011 – Steve Fermier
City police officials can neither confirm nor deny a published report that more city officers are in trouble over the scandal involving alleged payments to police for sending fender benders to a Rosedale garage.

A total of 31 officers were allegedly involved.

Seventeen face federal charges and more than a dozen have been suspended in wake of the U.S. Attorney’s investigation and allegations that officers steered business to the Majestic towing company and took payments under the table for doing it.

City police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said he cannot comment on the Investigative Voice report of additional suspensions because it falls under personnel matters and information remains confidential in those cases.
