Sam Hicks Memorial Golf Tournament

To the members of the Baltimore County PD FOP Lodge 4:

The FBI Agents Association (FBIAA) Baltimore Chapter is hosting the upcoming Sam Hicks Memorial Golf Tournament at Compass Pointe Golf Club, Pasadena, MD on September 30, 2013.  SA Sam Hicks was shot and killed while executing a search warrant  on November 19, 2008 in Indiana Township, Pennsylvania.  Sam, a former Baltimore Police Officer, was 33 years old when he was killed, leaving behind a young son and wife.

Prior to this year, the FBIAA Memorial College Education Fund was the sole benefactor from the proceeds of our tournament.  This year, we have added the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in an effort to recognize others who have made tremendous sacrifices for our country.  We have all worked alongside veterans, and many of us are veterans ourselves.  We therefore recognize the service and sacrifice made in both in the military and with the FBI, and the partnership with WWP is a natural.

The goal of the tournament is not only to raise money for the two charities but also to give as many Wounded Warriors who can and wish to participate the chance to come out and enjoy a round of golf for free ($125 per player) with active and retired agents and law enforcement officers as well as some folks from the private sector.  Our intent, through corporate and individual donations, is to cover the $125 fee for each wounded vet who would like to join us for the day.  We think this would be a modest thank-you for serving our country and for making such a tremendous personal sacrifice.  Leftover proceeds from donations/sponsorship would then be split evenly between WWP and the Memorial College Education Fund.

We are seeking assistance in making this fundraiser work.  This assistance can be provided in many forms:

1)  Join us on September 30 and play a round of golf with us (bring a foursome, that would be even better);

2)  Sponsor a Wounded Warrior to play;

3)  Forward this information to anyone you know who would like to play;
5)  Refer the us to a potential sponsor (corporate or individual).

The FBI Agents Association Baltimore Chapter would like to see the tournament and fund raising effort be a recurring annual event with WWP.  If we are successful in 2013, we hope the event will grow in years to come.  If you need further information, please contact me directly.  My information is posted below.

Thanks very much in advance!
